The Warriors Girls entered their first District game this year on a 4-game winning streak and an overall record of 16-4. But on the night of Wednesday, March 1st, their streak and season both came to an end at the hands of last year’s State Semi-Finalist, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, on their floor, at a score of 60-50. It marked the Warriors’ first loss in over 3 weeks and a much earlier departure out of playoff contention compared to winning the District Title just a season ago. The girls graduate 3 seniors- Daria Boboc, Reagan Mumford, and Danielle Fusco.
After winning 2 straight games for the first time all season and following their largest marginal win of 23 points in the District Quarterfinal over Auburn Hills Christian, the Warriors Boys also dropped out of playoff contention versus Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes during the District Semi-Final by a score of 67-61. After taking the lead of the game in the third quarter, the Warriors boys gave up the lead in the final half of the third after a series of transition points and free throws by Lakes. With freshman forward Mackenzy Blackwell fouled out of the game during the final stretch, the boys couldn’t muster enough scoring power and defensive prowess to overcome the deficit leading into defeat against the host Lakes. They conclude the season with an overall record of 4-18, while graduating 3 seniors- Josh Beck, Nick Suchezky, and Max Holleman.
